I think the merger between Singapore and Malaysia is impossible now. After all the disagreements and arguments since the formation of Malaysia, i think there will be problems again if we merge now.Malaysia and Singapore are two different countries, governed by two different governments which have their own way of governing. Life would be different if we merge together. The laws in both countries aretotally different,and we are not familiar with the conditions in Malaysia. We do not want any disorder inSingapore again right?
Although Singapore is just a causeway to Malaysia, things that happen there may not happen here. The currency that we use is not the same as theirs, different policies are imposed and the most important thing is the way how we think the malaysians are better than us or how the malaysians think that we are betterthan them, which may lead to a lot of arguements.
In Malaysia, the people can do a lot of things that we cannot do. Like the releasing of a new law, if we werefound smoking in Singapore coffee shops that does not allow that, we could get a fine. But in Malaysia, i do notthink there is such a law. This may lead the Singaporeans to think that it is very unfair, and what worst is thatriots may happen. We will not want history to repeat itself again. There are many others that may lead to thesekind of disorder.
So therefore, the merger between Singapore and Malaysia is impossible.
